Here's what our recent clients have to say about our courses, rock climbing sessions, guided mountain walks and tailor-made holidays
'Even now I still get a bit teary eyed when I replay Graham's words in my head telling me that I was now a Mountain Leader and that I had passed. There will never be enough thank yous in the world to show my gratitude to Graham and Lucy, Vikki, Sean, and all of my friends that have supported me and encouraged me right from the beginning. I love you all.' Kerrie Gosling (Mountain Leader assessment)

'Great day navigating. 13 hours on the map has taken its toll though. Thanks again - got so much out of yesterday.' Andy Motch (MTA Navigation workshops)

'A great course, learnt lots of new things lots to reflect on and to practice, great group. Will hopefully see again on this journey, and big thanks to Sharon, Richard and yourself Graham.' John Wilson (Mountain Leader training course)

'That’s my Mountain Leader training complete, grateful to Graham Uney, Sharon Kennedy and Richard Duckworth for making this happen in challenging times. It couldn’t have been better so thank you.' Chris Stephenson, York (Mountain Leader training course)

'I attended your Steep Ground Refresher course in late August. I'd just like to say many thanks as I've just completed my assessment today and passed. The day with you allowed me to deal with the rope work element of the assessment with confidence. See you on one of your environmental courses in the spring.' Jamie Lawler (MTA Steep Ground Workshop).

'Now the dust is settling and I am not an emotional wreck I wanted to get back in touch to say thank you. From the training last year, the refresher this year and then the assessment, I have very much enjoyed the time spent with you, Emma Holland and Lucy Wallace. You are so passionate and knowledgeable about what you do and that comes across. You also choose people to work with who positively represent your company. I will never be able to thank you enough for the support and guidance you have shown me. Once I have some more experience under my belt, and have been a year qualified, I would love the opportunity to work with you and your team to train/coach future leaders. I valued both yours and Lucy's feedback after the assessment. To have 2 experienced, professional and personable leaders recognise the possibilities in me meant so very much to me. Sadly at the time you said it I was an exhausted, emotional wobbly jelly and so maybe didn't come across as appreciative as I wanted to. Thank you very much and please do pass my sincerest thanks on to Lucy as well. See you on a hill'. Sean Magee, Scotland (Mountain Leader assessment)

'We really enjoyed today and are definitely determined to work up our skills, and walking pace too!! We did just make 6km an hour on part of our yomp back to the car. I will go and find a sharpie to join me on all my map reading walks.' Lucinda, Bampton (Private Navigation Course)

'Thank you for a great day on the hill for the ML Refresher. Learned lots, hung out with a nice crowd, didn't get wet and came away feeling ok about my forthcoming assessment. Couldn't have asked for more.' Mike Gray, (Mountain Leader 1-day Refresher)

'It's been a great expedtion weekend and many thanks to Sharon & Richard for making it possible. Sharon was professional and personable, imparting so much great information and guidance. I thoroughly enjoyed it and go away clearer on my strengths and areas that need attention.' Elizabeth, Penrith (Mountain Leader trainging course)

'Just a quick note to say thanks to you, Sharon and Richard. I really enjoyed the course - it was thorough, definitely educational and at times challenging. All delivered in a relaxed but professional manner with masses of interesting information as well as advice on what is expected at assessment. It has now given me a really good idea of the areas I need to work on and a focus for my hill walking days. It has also given me much more confidence in my ability to navigate safely and accurately in Mountain terrain. I reckon my Border Collie is going to be seeing quite a few new areas! I hope to see you at some time in the future for assessment.' Colin, Scotland (Mountain Leader training course).

'I booked onto a winter skills course so that I could start winter hill walking in safety. However, I got much more out of it. The guide, Graham Uney, was fascinating to talk to and delivered a day's training that was very enjoyable. My confidence is boosted and I feel like the course has opened the door to more adventures in the fells. I would recommend NOT buying an ice axe and hiring one instead until you have heard Graham's advice on what to buy!' Richard S, Pickering (Winter Skills 1-day course)

'I really enjoyed the 1 day course and feel a lot better prepared to go into the mountains safely in winter. Because Graham is using his winter skills almost every day on Helvellyn his teaching is relevant and second nature to him. I found Graham a very friendly and easy to get along with person which is very important when learning new skills. He is someone I respect and I could learn a lot more from on further courses. The other people on the course were really friendly (outdoor people usually are) and I would recommend this day course to anyone who enjoys the hills in winter and wants to make the most of them safely. Brilliant day out.' Andrew L, Penrith (Winter Skills 1-day course)

'A great day out learning Winter Skills with Graham Uney. Graham is a really friendly guy who shares his wealth of knowledge and practical experience on how to get the most out of winter on the fells. In challenging snowy and breezy conditions, Graham led us safely up Swirrell Edge, a particular highlight on an informative, challenging and exciting day spent in good company.' Nigel O, Darlington (Winter Skills 1-day course)

'Great day out. Graham is a very friendly and cheerful leader, and clearly immensely capable. Lots of useful new skills learnt, and all done with an eye to the group's fun and enjoyment. There was limited snow lying, and 60 mph winds, but Graham managed to find places where there was enough snow to learn on, and knew where to keep us out of the wind. Overall, a really great, informative day out: the challenging weather never had an opportunity to dampen the mood.' William W, Newcastle (Winter Skills 1-day course)

'I had a fun and memorable Winter Skills course with Graham and five others. Very informative, also great fun. Graham has a vast knowledge of the weather and conditions on the mountains and is good at explaining it in a simple and enjoyable way. Would recommend the course to anybody who enjoys winter walking in the fells.' Mab, Norwich (Winter Skills 1-day course)

'Really was an awesome day in the Glyderau, despite the poor snow conditions Graham found plenty to teach me on using of an ice axe and crampons and fitted in the summit of Foel Goch at 831m ! Can't recommend him highly enough.' John, North Wales (Winter Skills 1-day course)
'I booked a three hour session for myself and my 12-year-old son, we have limited climbing wall experience and wanted to try climbing on real rock. We had an excellent session which our instructor tailored to cover what we both wanted to learn. I would definitely recommend this experience and will be booking another session.' C. Biggs, Shrewsbury (Rock Climbing Taster)

'Excellent teaching in the environment that I wanted to learn about. Relative, at my level and very positive instruction. Useful, as Graham knew we would know the area, so he stretched us by taking us out to an area unknown to us. Great achievement, learnt loads - Graham's a great teacher! Still buzzing. Thanks Graham!' Helen Iles, Barmouth (Night Navigation Workshop)

'Had the best day rock climbing - definitely something worth experiencing. Graham and Emily were fantastic instructors helping us throughout, keeping us calm and safe. Will definitely be looking to book with Graham again some time in the near future. Thanks again to Graham and Emily!' Alex Kennedy, Ormskirk (Rock Climbing for Beginners Half-day)

'My wife and I recently participated in two of Graham's tailor-made week-long holidays......the first week in the Orkney Islands, and second week in the Shetland Islands (both in Scotland). We had an incredible experience, and were amazed at everything Graham knew about the islands......the wildlife, the history, the geology, the culture. Graham is extremely well organized, quick to respond, and always aims to please. Above all, he is a gentlemen with a very positive attitude! We enjoyed our tours so much that we have already booked another tour with Graham for next year!' Dave and Jane Offutt, Washinton, USA (Tailor-made Holidays to Orkney and Shetland)

'I had a fantastic time on the course and thoroughly enjoyed it. The course was very intense, both physically and mentally, but to be perfectly honest, I would have been disappointed had it not been. I like to feel like I’ve got value for money and I certainly did on your course. The night navigation was terrifying but awesome and I wouldn’t change that. I will definitely be back!' Siobhan Owen, Wath-on-Dearne (Mountain Skills course)

'The course provided a wide range of useful information for anyone wanting to go walking in the mountains, from navigation to identifying plants and learning about ticks and midges. I learnt a great deal about navigation, which I'm looking forward to putting into practice. The pace of learning allowed plenty of time to try out new skills during the days and night out. The night navigation was a particular highlight, it gave confidence in what we had learnt and how it works in low visibility situations. The course was very well structured and organised, a clear itinerary was provided. Graham was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the mountain environment. A fantastic weekend and well worth the drive from Suffolk!' Simon Frost, Suffolk (Mountain Skills course)

'I have just completed a Mountain Skills course, climbing Arenig Fawr and Aran Fawddwy. Graham Uney was fantastic as our instructor and I cannot thank him enough for the whole weekend! This course teaches you how to navigate, by teaching you how to work out bearings, paces and using grid references. We also did night navigation which was very exciting. Weather was pretty good to us and we saw some stunning scenery! Highly recommend this course. It's suitable for anyone and any fitness type. Thanks again Graham! I'll definitely be back to do another course. Brilliant weekend.' Rebecca Whittall, Oswestry (Mountain Skills course)

'We had a fantastic day! Graham was very informative so we learnt a lot. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend it to people of any climbing ability looking for a fun outside day out.' Natasha Tigwell, London (Rock Climbing for Beginners Full-day)

'Thoroughly informative and rewarding experience. Very lucky to have found and been trained by Graham. Lovely guy, with masses of experience and a genuine passion for what he does.' Matt Rogers, Montgomery, Mid Wales (National Navigation Award Scheme course)

'Graham is an excellent guide. His knowledge of, and enthusiasm for birds and other wildlife, are outstanding. And his experience of other wild areas helps to put things into a wider context.' Martin S, Warwickshire (Guided Wildlife Walk)

'Stupendous. We began with a fill-in for plans that went awry and ended up being treated to the best guiding we have ever had. You were especially good at tailoring the day to our interests and abilities - I never felt rushed or overextended yet we still felt like nothing was left out.'
